+ - How do we get in? Will you provide a key? Click to collapse

Access to the Tithe Barn is provided by key which is in a number controlled key safe behind the main gates. We will provide you with the number in advance of your event or if you let us know when you expect to arrive, we will meet you at the Barn.

We have a number of licenses which dictate the times we can allow music to be played and alcohol to be served at the Tithe Barn.

The Bar closes at 11pm.

The music finishes at 11pm.

Guests are required to vacate the Tithe Barn by 11.30pm.

A surcharge of £100 for every half an hour that guests remain in the Tithe Barn or on its grounds after 11.30pm will be charged to the hirer.

The Tithe Barn is licensed for the Sale and Consumption of Alcohol and is therefore governed by the laws relating to the sale and consumption of alcohol in a public place.

Any hirers wishing to supply or sell alcohol must have a personal license.
The penalty for breaking the law in this respect is £20,000.

The Tithe Barn has entered into an agreement with Archer Events for the supply of a fully staffed pop up bar for weddings and agreed events.
Hirers wishing to use this service will be asked to contact Archer Events to discuss and agree with requirements.

+ - Can we decorate the Tithe Barn? Click to collapse

Yes, absolutely.
We ask that you don’t fix decorations to the lime washed walls but you can temporarily fix decorations to our wooden structures and are free to bring in any table decorations or freestanding decorations you desire.

We have a private car park which can park up to 30 cars, however, all cars are parked at the owner's own risk and responsibility.
We do allow wedding bookings to leave their cars overnight on the night before and night of the wedding, but again, this is at the owner's own risk and responsibility.

Dunster Steep Car Park is a public car park that is situated a short walk from the Tithe Barn.

+ - Can we smoke? Click to collapse

Smoking is not permitted within the Tithe Barn buildings.
You are permitted to smoke in the car park and we ask that you dispose of your cigarettes responsibly.

+ - Do you have a sound system? Click to collapse

There is no permanent sound system at the Tithe Barn. We do have a small portable system for playing CD’s which also has the facility for using a microphone to make announcements etc, but this has limited volume and we would recommend you consider hiring a system if you need more volume.

+ - Is there a limit on the volume of music? Click to collapse

As we are located in a quiet and peaceful village, with residential neighbours close by, and in order to comply with our licenses, we do have a maximum noise level of 92 DAB, which is monitored by an integrated noise limiter.
If the sound levels produced by any live music, singers or DJ’s exceeds this level for a sustained amount of time, the power supply to the Tithe Barn will be cut off and will need to be reset by a representative of the Tithe Barn.
There will be a time delay of at least ten minutes before the limiter can be reset

Yes. The Tithe Barn has a fully equipped catering kitchen which you, or your chosen caterer can use as part of your hire agreement.

We do ask that you provide us with details of your chosen caterer, recommend that they visit the Tithe Barn before your event to familiarise themselves with the facilities and provide us with copies of their public liability insurance and any valid certificates showing that any equipment they will use at the event has been tested in accordance with all applicable legislation.

+ - Do you provide tables and chairs? Click to collapse

There are tables and chairs available in the Barn which you are free to use. Ideally, if you require tables and chairs, we would work with you to determine how many and where they need to be located so that we can have them ready and out of their store for when you arrive.

Our tables are all oblong in shape, so if you wanted circular tables, these would need to be hired separately.

Yes.  The Tithe Barn is easily accessible to wheelchair users.
Unfortunately, we do not have a lift to access the Mezzanine in the Main Hall.

We do not endorse or recommend these suppliers, nor do we receive any income from any introductions we may make.

Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed at the Tithe Barn, with the exception of assistance dogs within the meaning of the Equality Act 2010.

No.  As a charity, we do not have on site staff.  We have a team of very dedicated, hard-working volunteers who ensure that the Tithe Barn is maintained properly and who help with the administration, but we do not offer events planning. This helps keep our costs down and ensures that our charges are reasonable.

+ - How much does it cost to hire the Dunster Tithe Barn? Click to collapse

No two events are the same and we try to ensure that our charges reflect your needs. We therefore ask you to get in touch with us to discuss your requirements.
