Dunster Tithe Barn

HIRING

The Dunster Tithe Barn, which dates back to the early 16th Century when it formed part of a Benedictine Priory, was in 2006 transformed into a magnificent Community Centre for the village. Now considered to be one of the finest such facilities in West Somerset, the  Dunster Tithe Barn offers a Main Hall with seating at tables for up to 120 or without tables up to 180.Outside is a hard surface area offering two disabled car spaces and a limited parking area. The Tithe Barn is centrally located within the medieval village of Dunster and directly adjoins the village gardens.

In addition there are two other rooms that can be hired either separately or in conjunction with the main hall.  Modern toilets, including disabled facilities, and a well-equipped kitchen are also provided.

The Reception area

The Reception and Exhibition area is a particularly attractive space with a slate floor and exposed roof timbers. Measuring 34ft max. by 20ft it provides an excellent Entrance to the Tithe Barn Centre. It is ideally suited to art exhibitions or craft displays.

The main area of the barn with its exposed timber roof and wooden beams is illuminated by up-lighters and has under-floor heating. It can be used in a very flexible way for many different functions. It measures approximately 62.5 x 24 ft and can accommodate 120 people sitting at tables, or 200 seated in rows.

The Meeting or Club room has a carpeted floor and exposed roof timbers, and measures approximately 35 x 20 ft. It is equipped with table tennis and pool tables, or can be used for seating up to 50 people.


2010: The New Gallery

A new gallery has been added at one end of the barn - in fact there was a decrepit version there when the barn was first taken over - you can see it on the early photos. It allows extra space for functions.

Charges: (Hire fees are according to the event planned, therefore Prices are On Application.)

There is a further charge for the use of the kitchen depending on what it is used for - hirers will need to discuss their requirements with the management first.

Hire fee for Wedding Ceremony & Reception, or for a Reception only, for 2.5 days exclusive use of the whole Barn including provision of a cash bar 
Hire fee for a Marriage Ceremony only with 1.5 days (and until 5pm on the day of the ceremony) exclusive use of the main hall @ the Barn 

These charges would include the use of tables and chairs, crockery and cutlery, if required.

Hire fee to hold an Anniversary or Celebratory Party for up to 100 guests for 1 day 11am - 11.30pm with exclusive use of the main hall, reception & kitchen and including the provision of a cash bar

Hire fee for a children's birthday party for 4 hours in the main hall of the Barn including use of reception &  the kitchen = (up to 40 children)
Hire fee for a childrens party in the meeting room for 4 hours including use of reception & the kitchen = (up to 20 children).

All users will be responsible for the payment of breakages and damage and will be expected to leave the premises clean and tidy after use.

*** Anyone living in the area of the TA24 6 postcode is entitled to a 10% discount off the above fees.
